Jewelry Care

Like any other fabric, your crocheted jewelry may wear and tear. But, with proper care and storage, you can make your handmade pieces last longer. Here are a few hints:

  1. All pieces have been lightly stiffened to help preserve their form. As you wear your jewelry the crocheted components might soften - this is completely normal! If, over time, you feel they need to be renewed, place them on a plastic bag or sheet and paint on a thin layer of white glue or commercial fabric stiffener (like Alene’s Stiffy) diluted by 75% with water. Allow to dry completely.

  2. Store your crocheted jewelry in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.

  3. Lay pieces flat to preserve their form. Keep them in a box to prevent them from accumulating dust.

  4. Let perfume and lotion dry completely before putting on your jewelry.

  5. Avoid getting your jewelry wet.

  6. Do not sleep in your jewelry.

  7. If you must, clean the crocheted components of your jewelry using a mild soap and water solution. Spot clean only, avoiding the metal components of the piece. Air dry only; do not dry in the sun, in a dryer, or with a hair dryer.

  8. The best way to keep your chains and metal components tarnish free is to wear your jewelry regularly! Otherwise, wipe them with a soft, dry cloth after wearing and before storing them.

  9. Store with an anti-tarnish strip or desiccant silica gel packet. Use a TINY bit of metal polish to keep the parts shiny.

  10. Keep jewelry out of reach of pets and children.
